Championship lead after dramatic Snetterton weekend

August 31, 2026

Snetterton delivered another action-packed weekend for the team, with the #21 Aston MartinVantage GT4 fighting its way to two strong results and, most importantly, enough points to move MK Racing to the top of the GT4 championship standings.

Qualifying saw the Aston Martin line up P7 for Race 1 and P4 for Race 2, leaving plenty of work to do across both contests.

Race 1 proved to be a standout performance. Starting from P7, Hawkins produced a brilliant opening stint, making several classy overtakes and carving her way through the field before handing the car over at the pitstop in a fantastic position.

From there, Orton went on the hunt. Chasing down the leaders, he pushed the Aston Martin to the limit and left absolutely nothing on the table as he fought his way towards the front. The effort was rewarded with a superb P2 finish, adding another overall podium to MK Racing’s growing collection.

Race 2 proved to be a tougher challenge. Starting from P4, the team endured a difficult opening stint before a succession penalty during the pitstop cost valuable track position.

But MK Racing refused to give up. Hawkins launched another charge through the field, picking off four positions during her stint and bringing the Aston Martin home in P5 overall and P3 in class.

While Race 2 may not have delivered the overall podium the team was chasing, the valuable championship points proved crucial.

After a season-opening podium at Silverstone, a double overall podium and Silver Cup victory at Oulton Park, and another strong weekend at Snetterton, the #21 Aston Martin has consistently delivered points when it matters, putting the team firmly in title contention.

There is still a long way to go, but the momentum is with us. The challenge now is to keep pushing, keep scoring and defend that championship lead as the season enters its next chapter.
